The Jaguar (panthera onca) is a charismatic apex species that ranges from Mexico to Argentina.
Jaguars live in biodiverse regions and travel between these regions over land through biodiverse movement corridors to find prey and mate. They represent healthy ecosystems, which are important for life on Earth. Almost 50% of the Jaguar’s habitat has been lost due to agriculture expansion. Biodiverse corridors are disappearing due to encroachment by infrastructure, mining, and other development throughout the Americas. Jaguar habitat loss represents degradation of ecosystems and functions, which are essential for a healthy planet and food production.
